Further Help and Support

We have to change damaging attitudes, behaviours, and culture and stop the violence before it starts.

This is a problem that is hidden in plain sight and every day we see how it is affecting the lives of women and girls, where they learn, live and work.

There is something everyone can do.

Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) is a seven year programme mandated by the Northern Ireland Executive which will address the whole range of gender-based violence, abuse and harm which is disproportionately experienced by women and girls, and which is rooted in gender inequality.

You can download EVAWG Strategic Framework from the NI Executive website

Background

In 2021, the Northern Ireland Executive directed that a Strategy to End Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) be developed, and the Executive Office is leading on this whole of government, whole of society approach.

Violence, abuse and harm against women and girls cuts across all generations, all communities, and all spheres of our society.

It exists everywhere.

Throughout our communities there is a growing awareness and a sense of urgency that more needs to be done.

We are saying enough is enough.

Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Change Fund 2025/26

The EVAWG Change Fund will support those organisations working to prevent and challenge the attitudes, behaviours and culture that can lead to violence against women and girls.

It will deliver real change for those who suffer harm and abuse across our society every day.

We are offering tiered funding of up to £25,000 to help mobilise grassroots action, support innovative delivery and maximise the impact of community-led initiatives.

Details of eligibility, guidance notes and the online application are available on our Grants portal.

Applications must be submitted no later that 5pm on Friday 9 May 2025.

Power to Change

You have it. They have it. We all have it. The Power to Change.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) initiative to change attitudes, behaviours and beliefs.

The Power to Change campaign urges men and boys to help play their part in affecting a cultural and societal shift.

The PSNI has launched this campaign to address misogynistic male behaviour and cultures and consists of two important threads:

  1. Challenging attitudes & behaviours - calling on men to consider their responsibility and how their actions can affect other people.
  2. “Active Bystanders” - empowering men and the wider community with the knowledge and skills to intervene when they see someone carrying out inappropriate actions or making unwanted comments.

Regional Change Fund

Eight organisations will also share £1.2 million of funding from the Executive Office to deliver society-wide change when it comes to tackling violence against women and girls.
