Street Art Jam to bring a splash of colour to Larne!

Tuesday 25 October 2022

Larne will come alive with colour this October thanks to a very special ‘Street Art Jam’ - when six acclaimed street artists will use their unique artistic skills to transform the under pass pillars at Narrow-gauge Road, Larne!

Organised by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, the event takes place on Sunday 30 October from 2pm-4.30pm and is part of the annual Larne Arts Festival.

Members of the public are welcome to watch the artists at work as they create what will be incredible pieces of art. There is fantastic line up of artists including FGB, Emic, Codo, Wee Nuls, Alana McDowell and Rob Hilken. DJ Mark Dobbin will also be performing at what promises to be a relaxed creative afternoon!

Various art workshops also took place throughout August and September as part of the Larne Arts Festival. Over 200 people of all ages participated in learning new skills across various art forms at a wide range of innovative workshops.

In addition, Council in partnership with members of Larne Renovation Generation, helped facilitate a street art masterclass with Year 13 Art students from Larne Grammar. Students learnt specific graffiti art techniques and created an amazing piece of artwork throughout a 2 hour arts session.

Council was also pleased to work with the fantastic Larne Renovation Generation group to create an outdoor poetry exhibition featuring the work of six poets from across Mid and East Antrim. The final exhibition can be found situated off Main Street, Larne.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Noel Williams, said: “This year’s festival has been highly successful in leaving a lasting creative legacy in the Larne area through education, supporting local artists, performers, musicians and writers and improving the town centre environment. Well done to all involved.”
