Mayor hosts Pride Recognition Event

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Gerardine Mulvenna, hosted a very special ‘Pride Recognition Event’ recently celebrating the amazing individuals and organisations who support the local LGBTQIA+ community.
Those nominated to attend the event descended on Hillmount House, Larne, for a wonderful afternoon of celebration.
The event recognised and honoured the achievements, contributions and struggles of the many local individuals and organisations who support and champion the wonderful LGBTQIA+ community across Mid and East Antrim.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Gerardine Mulvenna, said: “As Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, it gave me so much pleasure to host this inaugural Pride Recognition Event.
“I was delighted to see so many amazing individuals gather to celebrate all of those who make such a vital contribution to our community and society generally.
“We have a proud and vibrant LGBTQIA+ community in Mid and East Antrim and Council is committed to fostering an inclusive and accepting environment for all residents.
“As Mayor, I will do everything within my power to ensure all of our citizens can live their lives free from the prejudices of others and without fear or reservation of being themselves.
“I commend all those organisations and individuals who provide resources, support and opportunities to all within our community, so that they may thrive.
