Mayor commends Tommy Nicholl MBE on 42 years of public service
Tuesday 7 November 2023
The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Gerardine Mulvenna, attended a reception to mark more than four decades of public service by Tommy Nicholl MBE.
Tommy, who was first elected to the then Ballymena Borough Council in 1981, was the special guest at an event in his honour in the Mayor’s Parlour in the Braid, Ballymena, last Friday.
The DUP stalwart – a two-time Mayor – retired earlier this year.
The Mayor said: “Tommy Nicholl has been a stalwart of local government in Ballymena and latterly Mid and East Antrim, and to have given 42 years of his life to serving the community is inspiring and hugely commendable.
“It was lovely to have the opportunity to pay tribute to Tommy’s unwavering efforts and selfless hard work, in the company of his family and friends.
“While Tommy has officially retired, no doubt he will remain extremely active locally and on behalf of the Council we wish him very well in the future.”
