Local students discover new apprenticeship opportunities
Wednesday 5 February 2025
Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week 2025 (#NIAW2025), is taking place this week offering an amazing series of events - showcasing the benefits of becoming an apprentice.
Mid and East Antrim Labour Market Partnership has collaborated with schools, employers and stakeholders in the Borough to provide a dedicated week of events and promotional activities that will demonstrate how apprenticeships work for individuals, businesses, communities and the wider economy.
Funded by the Department for Communities, Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.
Events taking place include an interactive careers fair and creative industries takeover day at St Killian’s College, Carnlough; school visits to Clarke’s, Caterpillar, Wright Bus and Moore Concrete; a Ballymena learning together careers fair at Cambridge House plus a Higher-Level Apprenticeships event at NRC.
There will also be ‘Construction Takeover Day’ at Northern Regional College, Farmlodge in Ballymena highlighting opportunities provided through construction and built environment apprenticeships.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Beth Adger MBE, said: “Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is committed to supporting local businesses, offering a pipeline of talent and employees and providing career pathways to young people across our Borough.
“Through collaboration with local employers and schools, we aim to ensure that our businesses have the support they need to introduce new talent to their workforces and provide ways for our young people to gain the skills and experience needed to build the foundations for their career pathway.
“We hope that by showcasing the opportunities available to our young people locally, we will inspire them and realise their potential.”
