The Mayor hosted the annual Emergency Services Day event - held on 9 September this year - at the Braid in Ballymena.

She praised the selfless men and women who serve in the emergency services and reflected on those who had lost their lives trying to save others.

The 999 prayer was delivered by Rev. Andy Moore of St. Patrick’s Church, a trained paramedic, and the Deputy Lieutenant for County Antrim, Richard Reid DL, also spoke to the gathering.

Among those who attended were representatives of the community policing team from the PSNI, the Fire and Rescue Service and RNLI - while local Councillors were also present to show their support.

Following the event the Emergency Services Flag was raised at Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne civic buildings.
