Biodiversity University a great success!

Children across the Borough had the chance to learn all about their local wildlife at Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s Biodiversity University, which took place throughout the summer months.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Beth Adger MBE, commended the programme and said: “Mid and East Antrim Borough Council hosted three weeks of Biodiversity University to inspire and encourage the Borough’s young residents to discover more about the incredible species and habitats on their doorstep - and how we can help them through fun, environmental activities.
“Biodiversity University continued with a successful year in Diamond Jubilee Wood Whitehead, Ecos Nature Park, Ballymena and Town Park, Larne. Participants had the chance to learn all about our native wildlife such as birds, bugs and bees; built insect homes; created natural art and learnt all about trees and survival skills such as den making and how to forage for food.”
“We’ve had some fantastic feedback, and I’d like to thank everyone who came along, all staff involved and Wild Walk Bushcraft who helped to deliver the programme. Special thanks also goes out to our sponsors Kilwaughter Minerals for supporting this year’s Biodiversity University week in Larne.”
