Beautiful blooms to celebrate historic Coronation!

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has planted beautiful Royal Coronation floral displays at key locations across the Borough to celebrate the historic Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort taking place this Saturday (6 May 2023) at Westminster Abbey.
Keep your eyes peeled for the blossoming displays at the following locations:
In Ballymena the display is located at Larne Link Road, Church Street 3, and is a magnificent flower bed filled with seasonal planting and the official Coronation emblem in the centre.
In Larne – off the Millbrook roundabout on the A8 towards Larne – there is a showcase of seasonal planting with official Coronation emblem within the centre of the display. The floral selection was specifically chosen to mirror the official emblem and features Red Dahlia, White Argyranthemum and Blue Aubrieta
Finally, in Carrickfergus – located close to the Castle, off Marine Highway – there is a beautiful bloom of seasonal planting with the official Coronation emblem within the centre of the display. Again, the floral selection was specifically chosen to mirror the official emblem and features Red Dahlia, White Argyranthemum and Blue Aubrieta.
In addition, Coronation trees will also be planted to mark the occasion in Ballymena, Larne and Carrickfergus.
Council’s Coronation Working Group have organised a host of fun-filled events and activities to celebrate this milestone including lighting up of key buildings in the area, the rollout of special colouring books and the distribution of commemorative coins to local children.
On Saturday 6 May there will be big-screen broadcasts of the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort in People’s Park from 10am in Ballymena, Town Park in Larne, and Marine Gardens in Carrickfergus – don’t forget to bring your own chair and picnic! This will be accompanied by a wide range of fun, family activities taking place from 11am including: arts and crafts, face painting, balloon modelling, circus skills workshops, inflatables, dance activities, laser tag and kids shows (available activities will vary depending on location).
On Sunday 7 May St Patrick’s Church in Ballymena will be the location for an afternoon ‘Coronation Community Service’ to reflect on this historic moment in time. Organised by Council in partnership with local churches, the service will take place on Sunday 7 May 2023 at 3pm.
On Monday 8 May members of the public are also invited to take part in The Big Help Out on the Bank Holiday Monday, which will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas.
